Working diligently, he went from being a dishwasher to a porcelain merchant. In 1879 he returned to Germany, full of determination and enthusiasm, and began to develop his own business in the field of porcelain painting in Erkersreuth Castle, Selb. After his first success, Philipp Rosenthal decided to start making his own porcelain in 1891.
